One of the big opportunities in implementing sustainable practices into your event is the ability to influence positive change in vendors and service providers as well as to educate your audiences about the issues that you are concerned about and committed to. 
 
This can be accomplished through PR, marketing and media streams, on site signage, well trained green team volunteers and partnering with socially and environmentally conscious outreach organizations.
 
Another benefit of course is tooting your own horn; come on, all events like to do that.  It is important however, to remain honest and transparent about your efforts.  Greenwashing is rampant in both in the business sector and in event production so be cautious of claims about being “the greenest” if there is no definition or standard to compare yourself to.
